Naturopathy and Herbal Medicine
Naturopathy is a holistic approach to health care that considers all aspects and systems of the body. It is a form of complementary or alternative medicine employing a wide array of holistic treatments aiming to deal with the causes of disease and imbalance within the body and mind.
Herbal medicine is also known as ‘plant medicine’ and is the therapeutic and practical use of plant preparations to heal the symptoms and causes of disease. Herbs are administered in dried tea, tincture, or supplement/capsule form.
Meet Shanti
Shanti takes a truly holistic approach to health and well-being, guiding clients to address the root causes of imbalance—not just the symptoms. Her journey into natural medicine began after completing a BS in Business Finance, and deepened during her time in Boulder, Colorado, where she fell in love with the art and science of natural health. For over 20 years, she’s brought her genuine warmth, deep knowledge, and ever-growing toolkit to her practice here in New Zealand, empowering people to create vibrant, unique lives.
Shanti believes that true wellness starts with purification and gentle rejuvenation of the body’s systems—nourishing from the inside out.
At home, she’s grounded in a half-acre permaculture haven, where her family strives to live lightly on the earth. Whether she’s tending the garden, creating wholesome meals, mountain biking, mothering, or exploring new corners of the world, Shanti brings a spirit of curiosity and joy to everything she does.
Her Passion: Gut Health & Digestive Foundations
Shanti’s specialty lies in supporting foundational gut health and the digestive system—because when your gut thrives, every part of you can flourish. Her care is truly integrative, focused on helping you reach your highest potential in health and well-being
Shanti’s Services
With certifications in Naturopathy, Iridology, Reflexology, Herbal Medicine, and Colon Hydrotherapy, Shanti offers a rich array of therapies in Nelson (all except Colonics).
Every person is unique and honored as such. Shanti begins with a detailed case history and explores your body’s constitution and genetics using Iridology, helping uncover what you need to restore balance, harmony, and vitality.
She may recommend functional testing for food intolerances, gut microbiome imbalances, heavy metals, parasites, or hormonal issues, to shed light on your body’s inner landscape.
Her holistic toolkit includes herbs, essential oils, supplements, and a range of complementary therapies. She also guides you with thoughtfully designed diets, live and fermented foods, nutrition plans, and bespoke herbal formulas—always tailored to your unique needs.
Shanti is especially passionate about the gut, which she sees as the “soil and roots” of your body’s ecosystem. Just as a tree’s health depends on its roots, our overall well-being depends on the health of our digestive system. By tending to gut imbalances and rebuilding the microbiome, Shanti helps clients overcome a wide range of health challenges and reconnect with their vitality.
To make this wisdom accessible to all, Shanti has created an 8-week online course designed to repair, support, and reset your gut microbiome.
